1815dn On windows 10 machines.
Hopefully some of Dells support staff monitor this forum.
This is one of the worst support experiences I have ever had with a hardware purchase. Just seems strange to me that a fully working printer (on windows 7) is just left with no diver support for Windows 10. Guess I understand that the printer is considered at End of Life but that is awful that it is left to the creators of the machine to decide. This machine was chugging along working fine on Windows 7 and I am sure it would still work on that OS. So the only thing that is ending it's life is that the company I bought it from doesn't feel the need to support the product they sold me. Makes me really think twice when/if I am forced to purchase another printer.
My only question is: Is there any hope that you all will come around and develop the Windows 10 drivers so that this working printer will actually function?

Jesse - Thanks for the reply. That Compatibility Mode did not work for me in this instance. The only way that I have been able to get the printer to work is to plug it into the router and assign the divers via the IP address that I have assigned to it. Have not taken the time to static address the printer in the router nor to set the address on the printer itself which I am guessing will be an issue whenever the router power cycles and re-addresses the device. But will just have to re-assign that same diver. Working for now just nowhere near ideal.
The End of Life deal is all that I really wanted to address as this printer is without a doubt working now.

I created this account just so I could reply here.
I too, am disappointed this printer won't work with Windows 10.
While I applaud the creative thinking, I certainly hope Dell doesn't consider Austieriy's router workaround a permanent solution...
I'll certainly be avoiding Dell printers in the future... time to find a new printer I guess... what a disappointment!

I am having a problem using my dell 1815DN with my new computer since it came with windows 10. I can not load the CD, the printer only way to use is USB cord, then on top of that my tray wont pull the paper, my bypass try is pulling 1 full page then jam 1/2 a page.
could this part of windows 10 not working on this???
any help on any of these???

It is now 2020 and I finally upgraded my desktop to Windows 10, but only because some third-party software I need will only run on Windows 10. My Windows 7 was running fine.
I was sorely disappointed to find on this thread that my perfectly functioning Dell MFP 1815dn was not supported by Windows 10, meaning Dell had not built a driver for it. Disappointed in Dell.
I tried several things without success, including Compatibility mode drivers. I finally got it to print by installing the generic driver which is one of the choices in my Windows 10 OS for adding default printers - the driver named "Microsoft PCL 6 Class Driver". I have printed a few pages, including different formatting and even some images using both Word and Excel. So far, it seems to handle the printing. Of course, I have lost all the "Device Properties" functionality such as dual sided printing.

Here's what worked for me. I downloaded and extracted the 1815dn drivers for Server 2008 x64, and then manually updated the driver to that. And that gave me just the scanner. Then went to the update screen and when I expanded the optional driver updates the 1815dn drivers showed up. I installed that and all's well.
