1815dn paper loaded, "no paper" error displayed
My Multi-Function 1815dn is displaying a "no paper, add paper" message even though the tray is loaded. The tray does seem to be hitting something when I put it into the printer, but I can't see what. Also, even though the spring-loaded tray is up when I put the tray in, it has been shoved down when I pull the tray back out. Has anybody else had this problem?

This is normal about the tray being in the down position when removing from the printer. As far as the error, there is a micro switch that maybe dirty or faulty. If it is still under warranty, try contacting Dell for support.

The No Paper/Add Paper message on this printer can mean one of 2 things:
there is no paper in the tray selected
the size of paper requested doesn't match the size of paper in the tray
Check you have selected the source as Tray 1 and not the MPF.
Check you have set your document/settings to A4 (or whatever paper you have in the tray)
These settings can be found in Control Panel / printers and faxes / Printing Prefrences AND sometimes in File/Page Setup. Check both.
