Downloading and updating the driver software to the latest version corrects this issue. (This corrected both XP and Win 7 Machines.  Didn't try it on Vista...)

Dell2335dn_Driver_ONLY_Windows(32bits)_v1.05_Verisigned was what it extracted to.

I installed the driver from the installation cd that came with the machine when I bought it  2 weeks ago.

I will try the download to see if it makes a difference.

Update :

I have reinstalled the latest driver from the dell site for this and the problem is still there on certain machines. Its starting to happen now on machines that previously had it installed and working properly.

Can anyone provide a better or detailed solution for this?

Is there something in Windows that needs to be adjusted?

Please help soon.

Thanks,

Hello Again,

I noticed that the firmware version for this printer was updated on 1.25.11, so I upgraded the firmware on the 2335s that I'm having this problem on.

Now one of these printers is showing OFFLINE since upgrading the firmware. I can ping the machine, it has a valid ip address, and I can access the web page for the printer....but is still showing offline on the print server and all clients.

Any help on this?

Also had this problem. Spent over an hour on the phone with tech support for obviously a firmware issue... Anyway, he had me reset network settings and reset printer settings from the unit itself. I also set to DHCP then back to static IP... so far, no complaints from any users.

This will be my last Dell printer.

I had the same problem but i solved it. Just need to download new scan softyware from dell website. Before installation please remove old one and reboot your pc/server.

update :

I performed the steps that a32guy mentioned and it brought the machine back online for printing : clear settings, go from DHCP to static ip.

but.......

now with the latest firmware & latest Network Scan software (general software for this model) I am still not able to scan to PDF on some machines (as originally stated).

solutions please ! This isn't being used in a home....its brand new and in a business.

Same problem here.  When the 2335dn does see my PC, it scans, and the scan progress window on my PC does its thing.

When the scan is finished, it says DONE, then a folder window opens (the destination folder), but there is no PDF in there.

The maddening thing is, it used to work!!!

Anyone find a solution that works yet?  I've done the software reinstall, but problem persists.

I just stumbled across this issue today as I rolled out a new machine to one of my locations. Both the disc and the drivers from the site didn't let me scan to PDF, but it got me wondering that maybe this was a recent issue so I found an older version of the drivers here http://www.siliconguide.com/drivers/device/1527/ and sure enough everything was back to normal. Hope this helps.

This  works for me.

1. Install the newest printer driver and application  from dell website. (v1.05_Verisigned)

2. Install older version of scan manager (EngineVersion=12.0.0.58851)

3. reboot

4. Uninstall both versions of scan manager.

5. reboot

6. Install scan manager 3.00.00.12 (EngineVersion=12.0.0.58855)

this solved my problem with scanning to PDF. Scan manager installed on Win XP 32bit
