There are no drivers for the MAC for this printer. Not Dell's fault as that is how they make a cheap printer is by making the computer do the majority of the work and they only wrote drivers for later Windows.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. This printer a) has Mac drivers; b) is a Postscript level 3 printer, and c) handles processing on-board (not on the PC).

ACK ! My mistake. I mis-read that and thought we were talking about the 3000CN, which is strictly a windows printer.

Godrifle,

Were you able to get the drivers of this printer on the mac ? I don't have the installer CDs for the printer anymore, and I desperately need the ppds for the printer. Can you please let me know if you did manage this successfully.

thanks !

Yes, I found my CD. However, I located a PPD online that works, and I think it's the same as what is on the Dell CD: http://www.cups.org/ppd.php?L365+I0+T+Q

I set up the 3100cn to print through a Netgear router. On a Windows computer, no problem, but on OSX 10.4.6 I have gotten nowhere. The drivers installed, but printer setup apparently did not. I chose IPP, and AutoIP as I did on the Windows computer. I input Dell and it brought up the 3100cn which I selected. The message reads "Unable to look up host AutoIP. Help Please!

Good morning,

From System Preferences, select "Print and Fax". Click the "+" button in the Printing pane. Select the "IP Printer" button in the top row just beneath the close, minimize and maximize controls.

For the "Protocol" pulldown, select "Line Printer Daemon - LPD". Type in the IP address of your printer in the "Address:" field. You can leave the "Queue" field blank. Give the printer a meaningful name in the "Name" field, such as "Color Laser". If you live in a mansion, you might want to put a location in ;-).

In the "Print Using:" pulldown menu, select "Other" and navigate to your Dell PPD file and select it.

You should be up and printing!
