Hey, doesn't someone with a 3100cn have any comments on this?

I may even notice a corellation between this issue and having the occasional bad output where the toner is messed up (happens around 1 in 10 print outs).

Mine does it a few times an hour I believe...a little annoying.

Okay, thanks.  That tells me it is likely "normal".  I wonder if other Laser printes do this and simply don't tell us (ie: Dell being overly informative) or if this is a feature of the Dell 3100 series.

A few times an hour seems a little excessive, but then again most of my experience is with B&W's.  (My B&W only calibrates when it's turned on, when it comes out of PowerSave or when you tell it to.)  If there is a standby or PowerSave feature, (I'm sure there is, I just don't have the manual or the printer in front of me), try turning that on and you should "calibrate" less often.  What may happen then is that the printer will calibrate just as you bring it out of PowerSave to print a job.

Yes, the 3100cn goes into power save mode (currently 10 minutes).  Thankfully it only re-callibrates rarely, not every time it wakes up.  In fact, I've hardly noticed it doing it, so it isn't a big deal.
