You will need the printer drivers, either from the CD or download them. Then just add a printer, select Local Printer (I know, counterintuitive, but that's Windows), make sure "Automatically detect and install Plug and Pray printer" is NOT checked. In the next screen, Create a new port, and select "Standard TCP/IP Port". Enter the printer's IP address. Name the port..
Hi--is it possible to use a USB port to network the printers without an Ethernet connection? I have the printer connected to the local Dell PC and have indicated that I want to share the printer, but it is not appearing on any of the other PC printer screens.
you probably need to turn off your XP firewall on that machine with the printer...that's almost always the case (or make the printer sharing go around the firewall)
Tried that (turning off all the firewalls)--still no luck. There was an old ink jet printer on the same port that was sharing OK, but the new color laser seems not to like to do so.
