3110CN feedback

OK the 3110CN has arrived.  However no "manual" can be downloaded yet from Dell. [Why is that?  Is there something to hide?]  It appears that the 3110cn is a one pass color laser, which will compete with HP 2600 and 3800 and others utilizing the same "one-pass" technology.  It prints color "up to" 17 PPM.  The question I ask is does one buy the 3100CN now (which utilizes the older technology of revolving toner cartridges at 1/4 the speed) which is rated very high for its printing capability?  OR does one brave it and buy the 3110cn and hope its printing capability is equally as good?  The 3100 weights about 20 pounds more than the 3110.  Both are selling right now for $499 (with a one year service contract).  Please let us all know if the 3110CN is as good as the 3100CN.  Thanks.

did more search and found this KB.

this might be the solution to my problem, basically the password is not set, so i should use 'empty string' for the password field. I will try this later today.

I am able to setup the printer on my XP machine. However, i am having problem with the Printer Setting (web tool). Basically, i want to set it up to use static ip, but when i try to update any setting, it prompts me for username and password. I use Admin for the username, and "password" for Password. But i can't get in, and it is giving me authentication error.

couple issue:
1. the default username and password is not documented anywhere, other than some threads in this forum.
2. The default username and password does not work
3. I try upgrading the firmware, in hope to reset the setting. The firmware update was fine, but the username and password still does not work.

I am wondering if the username and password is different than other model ? Really need to get this fixed as this is a replacement for my company, and it is currently blocking the department who purchase this printer.

Thanks.

Has anyone been able to configure the wireless options via the Ethernet port? From what I understand this isn't possible, and any and all extra features of the MFP card can ONLY be configured if you have a wireless connection to the printer. Can anyone confirm? I know with HP products you can configure any and all EIO connection options from any network interface. I am not sure why the Dell separates the two this way. Thanks! XJRGUY
