Update

I have contacted Dell, there is a misprint on the web site those printers should only come with 128MB but due to the misprint they are going to honour the 256MB and are shipping me the ram.

On the note of the driver crashing Word the tech told me its a Microsoft problem not a Dell problem and left it at that. So I have 3 systems in the office right now that cannot print to the office printer.

I am in the same boat, address book won't load for me either, same usb error.  I also have 4 computers running vista and office 2007, word and power point won't work unless I remove the printer.  Any help would be greatly appreciated

I finally figured it out, the actual drivers for Vista are not located where you normally would look. When you select Vista in the Dell menu it brings you to what looks like the driver but it is not, you have to click other versions below that and thats the drivers.

But I am still having the problems with the Address Book, and its not a Vista issue the XP machines also will not connect to the address book.

Hi

I have had the same issues with office 2007 crashing when trying to use the printer. Since installing vista, worked fine with XP.

I have been speaking with dell support all week, they are in the process of installing office 2007 onto a vista machine to see if the issues with the 3115 printer and office 2007 are the same. This is one of the reasons why I only buy dell equipment, they are more than helpful.

Hopefully a new driver should be out soon for the 3115/office 2007 combination.

Thanks

These drivers seem to work great, thanks

You have to connect the printer to USB to use the address book function then export the address from outlook or whatever, they are then stored in the printer and then you bung it back on the network.  Bit weird way of working things, but this function will not work without a USB connection.

I have used the link you provided to down load the drivers for my 3115cn (using Vista 32bit) however i am having trouble getting it installed after the download. I was on the phone for three hours with dell support but there support team does not use Vista so they were clueless on providing me with any help. Do you have any info you could give me.

Did you uninstall the printer driver before upgrading to Vista? If not please follow the instructions in this link and let us know if it works. I do realize that it is on the InkJet printer board. If it works I'll put it here too.

I BOUGHT THE COMPUTER XPS 410 WITH VISTA AND 3115CN LASER PRINTER LAST WEEK. THE DRIVER SOFTWARE THAT CAME WITH THE PRINTER IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VISTA, I CONTACTED DELL WHICH AFTER THREE HOURS ON THE PHONE THEY STILL WERE NO HELP. THEY ACCESSED MY COMPUTER FROM THERE LOCATION AND WENT TO UNINSTALL THE DRIVER WHICH DID NOT EXSIST. THEN THEY TRIED THE DOWNLOAND FROM DELL SUPPORT WHICH DID NOT INSTALL ANY DRIVERS AS WELL.( WHICH DURING THIS TIME I KEEP GETTING POP UPS THAT SAY THE SOFTWARE YOU ARE TRYING TO CONNECT WITH IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VISTA, HOWEVER IN THE DOWNLOAD SECTION ON DELL SUPPORT IT SAYS IT IS) I TRIED WHAT YOU SUGGESTED AND FOLLOWED THE INSTRUCTIONS BUT THERE IS NO COMPUTER TO UNINSTALL. I AGAIN TRIED TO INSTALL THE DRIVER FROM THE WEBSITE I FOLLOW THE INSRUCTIONS I UNZIP THE FILES THEN GO TO ADD PRINTER AND IT CAN NOT READ MY PRINTER THEN IT ASK TO CHOOSE ONE FROM A FILE WHICH CAN NOT BE OPENED. I AM A MAC USER SO I THINK I AM JUST CLUELESS SO I CALLED DELL AGAIN AND THEY SEEM TO HAVE NO ONE WORKING THAT CAN OPERATE VISTA IN TERE PRINTER DEPARTMENT AND THE DESK TOP FOLKS KEEP KICKING ME BACK TO THE PRINTER DEPARTMENT. I AM APPARENTLY WITHOUT ANY HELP.

I'll be glad to help you and I might ask some simple questions but they are so that I can understand your setup. Since Vista is new most people are upgrading, there are some like you that have purchased the Vista on their system, I'm sorry I assumed that this was an upgrade.

Now one thing I noticed the drivers that were posted in the post above your original message were for systems in Canada. Are you in Canada or are you in the US? If you are in the US then you should use this driver R147004. As with all USB printers please do not have it plugged in to the computer when you install this driver. It should ask you to plug the printer in. If you are not in either of these countries then we need to find the appropriate driver for you.

Gina that link is the same link that all Dell techs keep saying to go to but there is no drivers at that location, just an update for the address book.

"This package contains the MS Windows Vista 32/64bit Address Book Editor application for Dell 3115cn. Languages supported are English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Swedish."

Lower on that page is the link for Other Versions thats where the drivers are actually located.

OKay I have just ran into another problem that is kinda annoying, the scanner will not take any documents from the document feeder it must be laid on the glass, which means we cannot scan Legal documents only letter, and most of our documents are legal, is there a function or setting I can turn on to use the feeder.
