720
Hi, I am looking for some info on this printer. I can't find anything on it on dells website. I am also looking for what a brand new one would sell for? Or what similar item that dell is selling now? Any specs, prices, links, etc. would be appreciated.

I am also looking for additional information on this printer. Who is the OEM ? I had heard it was manufactured by Lexmark for Dell. Is this correct ? If so what is the Lexmark model number?

Hi,
I'm sorry I don't know much in answer to your question, but please be aware that the 720 will not work with Windows ME. Since I have a Dell with Windows ME that I intended to use the 720 with, it seems fairly inconsiderate of Dell to sell a new printer that is incompatible with a Dell system that is barely more than 3 years old, but there it is.

I got one of these freebies with the purchase of a notebook. I tried hooking it up to a compaq desktop running xp pro-sp2, and it wouldn't "communicate" (even though xp recognized dell 720 the moment i plugged it in) . Dell shipped me a new one. Still wouldn't work. I did get it to work with an old Dell inspiron 5000e. Pretty lame though to have a computer which would only work on a Dell.
Evidently the ink cartridges are "trial" versions with less than the full amount of ink. does anybody know proportionately how much ink vs the cartridges that they sell? I printed 3 8 1/2 x 11 photos and consumed a significant portio of the ink according to their meter.

I can't find any information either. The manual that came with the printer does not have any specifications listed - what is the maximum resolution, paper handling sizes, options etc for this printer?
New 720s in the box are listed on Ebay for between $.01 and $20.00
Lexmark has a model X715 but I don't know if this is the same or even comparable to the Dell 720.
I don't like the fact that the only place to get Dell inkjet cartridges is from Dell. I like having the option of running down to Office Depot, OfficeMax, CompUSA, and other places for a replacement cartridge for my Epson.
I was thinking of selling the 720 at work, but it looks like it would be more problem than it is worth. So Dell gave me a 'free' printer that is more a burden than a gift.
I'm thinking of just shipping it back to them....
