You say they are Dell ink carts, but did you buy them brand new from Dell?

I have the same problem with my 942, I changed the black ink cartridge this summer and it didn't change and now it's saying it's on the reserve tank again. I just changed the colore cartridge and it has not changed it's level. They were ordered new from Dell, so I have no idea what's up.

In a 942, a brand new ink cart from Dell should automatically reset the ink level indicator to full. On these and some other models there is no way to reset it manually. But if they print ok, which they should, then the fact that the wrong ink level is indicated should have no bearing what so ever on how long the ink cart will last. It will still print until the ink actually runs out. Refilled or ink carts from other than Dell, even though it may have a Dell label on it, will not reset the ink level indicator and may or may not work.

That's ridiculous !!! If I refill the cartridge the ink level should be reset. Does Dell actually expect us to buy a new cartridge each time?
Man they should be on the Environmental short-list for this...
Maybe we can dump all the empty cartridges in their parking lot and see how they get to work?
