bdprinter,

To remove the print jobs from the queue, try...

Delete Print Jobs

Using Non-Dell and refilled cartridges can sometimes be a problem. Some work and some don't. The Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset.

Please unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Now plug everything back in. This will reset any error messages the printer has. Now open the printer with the power on and the cartridges should go to the center to be replaced. Take out both Dell Series 5 ink cartridges and make sure the tape is off the cartridges and insert both back in and make sure the seat properly and latch. Close the printer and it should print an alignment page. If you still get the error message, please read bleow.

Black cartridge = black side(left side)           Color cartridge = Color side(right side)

Photo Cartridge = Black side(left side)         Color cartridge = Color side(right side)

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.

Dell Series 5 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.

It is also possible to get a new ink cartridge with a bad sensor. Please take it to the place of purchase for a refund or a replacement one.

Thanks for the quick reply Rick,

No Luck. Didn't print an alignment page. This was my sisters printer that was working. I broke down her computer/printer when she recently moved and she got a new system and I'm trying to get the printer to work. The cartridge is the original I believe that I've gotten professionally refilled for her several times without problem although it doesn't seem to last as long. I get an error message of 1102 which I got an automated response from Dell regarding to an ink cartridge problem: "you have requested assistance with your Dell ink-jet printer that is indicating cartridge error 0502, 50C, or some other error indicating that the ink cartridges are missing or misaligned." I still get that error message after pulling the power block after unplugging from wall. The printer is listed on my printer list when I try to print something so I believe that means I've installed the driver correctly.

 bdprinter,

The printer shoould be able to make a copy of a document with no problems.

Can be cartridge errors and/or Cleaning the encoder strip (Loud bang from printer carriage) might be the 502 error. Have a look at that.

You may want to try reinstalling the printer using the instructions located at...

bdprinter,

Just remembered the 1102 comes from a refilled cartridge. You need to have the printer working in order to install it. looks like time for replacement cartridges, I use the high capacity which are a few dollars more and last longer.

Thanks again Rick,

I didn't get a 0502 error message(that was listed in the automated response from Dell) only the 1102 which makes sense as the cartridge has been refilled but are you saying that if I get new cartridges you feel the printer will then work? When I try to print something the small window pops up saying ' Printing...etc' then disappears like normal but nothing else happens. I don't want to buy ink if the printer is no longer working.

Thanks Rick for taking the time to help. Looks like this Lexmark/Dell has itself a nasty little 1102 error problem. I'll get a new cartridge and try what Lexmark suggest for the problem.

bdprinter,

To back up the information, here is a GOOGLE SEARCH. Has to do with the sensor in the cartridge.
