944 All-In-One Printer Cartridge Alignment Error
Hi,
I have a Dell 944 All-In-One Printer and it's been working perfectly until recently. I didn't have to change my ink cartridges, since the levels were still ok. One day, the page did not print all the text. Some things were missing. I cleaned the cartridges and wanted to realign them and that is where the problem started. I can't realign the cartridges. I took them out and put them back in, made sure that the right port is chosen (USB port in my case), unplugged the printer, turned it back on and I still get the alignment error :-( I also put in the new black cartridge and no success. The cartridges cannot align and regular pages print blank.
Does it mean that I need to start looking for a new printer?
Thank you for your feedback.

AsiaMaz,
Are you using Dell Series 5 ink cartridges, generic or refilled cartridges?
Please unplug the printer from the wall. Now remove the power brick from the back of the printer for 60 seconds. Now plug everything back in. This will reset any error messages the printer has. Now open the printer with the power on and the cartridges should go to the center to be replaced. Take out both Dell Series 5 ink cartridges and make sure the tape is off the cartridges and insert both back in and make sure the seat properly and latch. Close the printer and it should print an alignment page. If you still get the error message, please read bleow.
Black cartridge = black side(left side) Color cartridge = Color side(right side)
Photo Cartridge = Black side(left side) Color cartridge = Color side(right side)
Dell Series 5 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.
Dell Series 5 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.
It is also possible to get a new ink cartridge with a bad sensor. Please take it to the place of purchase for a refund or a replacement one.

Hi there!
Yes, I use Dell Series 5 Ink. I did all what you said before. There in no tape on the ink cartridges. They worked fine before. A couple of months ago I noticed that not everything is being printed on the page and it got to the point that the pages are basically blank now, and I started to get this alignment issue.
Is there any other troubleshooting I can try?
Thank you!

AsiaMaz,
The error message usually comes from the Dell Series 5 ink cartridge. Removing the power brick usually resets the error messages.
I would suspect one/both of the ink cartridges may be bad. But if you're having issues with the printer printing complete pages, then zI would consider purchasing another printer.
Inkjet printers are usually cheap, the manufacturer makes the money on your purchase of ink.
