For your XPS600, since it was connected stand-alone before, you have to uninstall the printer drivers first. Once that is done, then you can do the install procedure that you did on your other computers.
Thanks. I should have pointed out in my original note that I had tried that already and it didn't work. The install software literally "quits". I was however able to get the printer working by installing it directly (USB) to the computer and then disconnecting it and putting it back on the wireless adapter. Then on the printer properties, I deleted (unchecked) the box for the USB port and added a port for the wireless connection. I spent almost two hours on the phone with Dell trying many, many things, none of which worked until, while still on the phone, I tried this approach myself. Needless to say, the Dell tech was happy to get rid of me. Still can't explain why the software quits during the install but at least my printer works.
I was actually looking for assistance myself when I found your question. I have the wireless printer adapter (WPA) for a new Dell Photo 924 printer and got it working on my desktop that is hooked up to my router via ethernet cable so I know the wireless connection is working. But when trying to install the printer on my wife's laptop with wireless card, the laptop won't detect the printer. I can log in to my wireless router (Linksys WRT54G) and see that the IP address for the WPA is active. I can't figure out what the bottleneck is. I am using ZoneAlarm on the laptop and have gone in and added the IP address for the WPA in the Trusted Zone. Even though the instructions say you don't have to configure the WPA again for additional systems, that's the only thing I can think of trying. Maybe the setup will be different for a system that communicates to the router wirelessly?? Can you think of a better approach? Anything I've overlooked? Thanks.
