948 Printer problem (when copying)

Question

My 948 prints fine for me when printing from my computer.  But, when I try to copy a document, the copy prints out with a solid, 1/2' thick black line down the center of the page from the top of the page to the bottom.  It didn't always do this.  It used to copy fine, but then one day it started this.  The rest of the copy copies as one would expect, it just has this solid black line down the middle!  Thanks for any help, Jay

Jay,   You're saying you cannot copy a document under the glass, correct?   Did you try to scan an image to your computer with the same results?     Rick

You are correct. I tried to copy directly from the glass and by feeding the document to be copied thru the feeder on top. I also scanned as a PDF to my laptop. All three result in having this black line down the center of the page on the copy. I could send you a copy of the PDF if you need to see what I'm talking about. And again, it only recently started doing this and otherwise, the printer itself functions fine. Thanks for your help.

I had a fine line down my documents until I cleaned the glass. As the document feeder slid the document across the glass, a spot was copied along the whole page. Not sure if that would help in this case though.
