962 All In One Printer/Cartridge Error

Question

I have had my 962 for some time, changing ink cartridges as required. They are direct from Dell, so not an odd brand.  Suddenly, the printer is telling me that I have an 'unsupported cartridge' and the printer does not work.  I have replaced the cartridge with a brand new one and get the same message.  I've removed the cartridge all together and it will not print.  It is the color cartridge only.  As these cartridges are very expensive, I don't want to keep installing new ones just to have the same message come up. Any idea what I'm supposed to do to correct the problem?  The cartridges are properly installed.  I've done it tons of times, and it's so simple to do, a mouse could do it!  So, what's up?

since replacing the carts doesnt clear up the problem then it means that the contacts on the cart slots might have shorted out, try to unplug the printer from the power, wipe the gold contacts on the cart carrier using a clean dry lint free cloth. if its still the same, then its the printer. which needs replacement
