966 Printing problems
I have a 966 with an ethernet card connected to my router. I have as many as 3 laptops connected to the network, all wireless. Two lappys print no problem to the 966 (especially surprising as one is a Vista). My reliable Inspiron 6000 has trouble printing via wireless. It usually cannot establish communication with the printer. Usually a re-boot of the lappy takes care of it, but after a while, the next print job won't go through. I tried deleting the printer from the lappy and re-install, but that didn't help, in addition, during the install, I had to rename this lappy as it did not delete it from the printer.
1) How do I delete a computer from the printer?
2) Would a static IPfor the printer solve the problem?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Let's try this first. I'm guessing that you are using a 3300 wireless printer adapter. If not, then you have to find the printer in the device that the printer is connected to and remove your Laptop from the device list.
Remove your Laptop from the printer list.
Go to start
click on programs/Dell/Dell wireless printer adapter 3300/Set ip address utility
Click on the printer
click on launch web page
On web page
click on settings
click on Scan to Network Host Management
check the ones you want to delete then delete them.
Just close web page when finished. Also close ip address utility also.
Now look at the list on the printer.
Now go to start/Dell Printers/select your printer/un-install your printer.
Restart your computer.
Download the latest drivers for your printer here.
when installing, choose network and follow the instructions.

All the printers that I used, had a USB cable. That may be where your problem us. Using the ethernet cable might not be as reliable. The newer 2.0 USB ports supply power to the device. I don't thing an ethernet cable from the router to the printer would supply power and that is probably what is causing your loss of connection.
Since you said that you have a print server, I would use it and follow the instructions below. I use the 3300 wireless printer adapter with my Dell Photo AIO printer 964, with my Netgear WGR614v6 using the same setup as listed below and I never have trouble connecting, printing, scanning, etc. Only during electrical storms and slight power flickers. Then the only thing I do is turn everything off for 15 seconds and then turn everything back on, instant repair. Give it a try.
How are you connected to the printer? wired of wireless?
If wired, disconnect your printer. Go to start/programs/Dell printers and un-install your printer.
Restart your computer.
Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer. Download drivers, Utilities, firmware and Patches. From what I see, the patch is to remove the printer.
Install your printer drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect it.
Then install the firmware.
If wireless, fix your network first.
Update the firmware in your wireless router. Manufacturer's website, make & Model needed.
Broadcast SSID(You may want to change this to make it easier to connect)
Use WPA security
Mixed b and g mode(n if available)
Use channels 1, 6 or 11. Most devices work better on these channels.
After router is done, now setup your wireless print server/printer.
If wireless printer server is used, Plug USB cable into computer and print server. Insert the print server disk. Choose Network, then choose print server and follow the instructions. If the disk does not work for Vista, you may have to go to drivers and downloads and download the 3300 drivers and install from that program.
Now setup the printer.
Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer. Download drivers, Utilities, firmware and Patches. From what I see, the patch is to remove the printer.
Install your printer drivers. Choose Network. Follow instructions.
Everything should now work.
