Printer will not print. I have cleaned the heads using the maintenance program. There is plenty of ink. Paper feeds as if wants to print, just blank pages.

When you don't use your ink carts for a while, when you get new ink carts that have been stored in warehouses for a number of months, or when you have refilled a slightly too dry ink cart, the print head nozzles on the bottom of the ink carts get clogged with dried ink. The printer head cleaner menu will NOT dissolve the dried ink. Water will. Try this. Soak the bottom of the clogged ink cart in 1/2 inch of hot water for 15-30 minutes. Blot dry with clean paper towel (you should see the ink color on the towel). Retry.

I am not sure what the ink cart is. Are you talking about the cartridge its self?

No it won't. It will not fit unless you want to modify the ink cart or the printer.

I've tried all the soaking recommendations, but nothing has worked. I just put a new black in and now I am getting an "incorrect" message. It is the same black ink cart that I always order, and it is placed in the area just as I always do. I have this type of printer at home and work, and have had it for many years, so I do know how to install the ink. What else can I try????? I am in the middle of exams and extremely frustrated that my printer is not working!

Do the following in this order.

Unplug BOTH the USB cable and AC power brick from the back of the printer for 1 minute, then replug. That resets the printer registers to null.

If that makes no difference, wipe the electrical contacts on the back of the black ink cartridge and the matching contacts on the ink cart carrier.

If that makes no difference, put the old ink cart back in (it doesn't matter that it is empty). If that doesn't show the same message, then it is definately a defective new ink cart and Dell will replace it.
