A962 unable to scan across network.
I am unable to scan across the network with my A962.
It is set up using the dell wireless printer adapter and everyone is able to print just fine.
However, following the instructions in the manual, I cannot get a PC option in the menu.
I get it to say scan to image editor, it has me save the setting, then tells me to press start scan button. If I press scan color or scan b/w it just repeats the process.
I cannot access any of the scan features through the AIO Control Panel.
I do not have windows firewall running.
Any suggestions?

Got the printer. It would not recognize my color ink cartridge. Emailed tech support. The solution they presented? A snippet from the manual telling me how to install ink cartridges. Brilliant. As if I didn't know. Finally got through to someone who sent me a new cartridge and that worked fine.
Suddenly this good deal, isn't quite looking like one.
I run a web development company and require scanning functionality so now I had to go out and buy a stand-alone scanner. Just annoying. Ah well.
Hope someone out there has had this exact problem and managed to find a workable solution other than switching from Dell for their printing solutions.

I have a similar problem with my A962. I have two computers on a wireless network, but can only scan from the computer I used to setup the Dell Wireless 3300 device. I can print from both computers with no difficulty and I can't find any info in the manuals which would indicate this as a limitation -- it should work.

If you get any useful information other than 'Um... have you tried pressing the scan button' or 'Sounds like you have a faulty printer' please let me know.
Afterall, it can't always be a faulty printer (gulp) can it?

I too have a similar problem as discussed in this thread, though I just posted about my problem to another thread titled "AIO 962 Wont Scan" before I found this more specific thread. I also have the AIO 962 and the Wireless Printer Adapter 3300.
I set everything up as described in the installation materials. I can scan across the network but the size of the resulting (typically I use "pdf" format) file is ENORMOUS. When I connect the printer with the USB cable directly to the computer, I am able to get a reasonable file size. The main problem with the bloated file size of the documents scanned over the network is that they typically are too big to attach to web-based emails.
A single page of black and white text (and not much of it) results in a 2.06 MB file when scanned through the network (and a fairly fuzzy image), but merely 126 KB (and crystal clear) when scanned with the AIO 962 attached directly to the computer.
Any thoughts?

I seem to have the same problem as you do with your printer and adapter 3300, as with everyone on this board. I have no help from printer support, except for them to tell me that the printer and the adapter have to be hooked up to the computer at the same time to make the printer work. I asked the tech then how could they call this wireless. She kept telling me how the 962 was one of the best printers out in the market today. If this is the case, I could have just used the printer cable and not shelled out 99.00 for a "wireless" adapter. Does everyone agree? Or am I wrong and the adapter has to be connected and I yelled at many tech erroneously.

Yes Yellow Lab
I again called up yesterday to customer support again and asked to speak to an executive supervisor, and lo and behold I finally got someone who was much more helpful than the upteenth person I've spoken to about this adapter problem. He finally credited me the money back. I'm keeping my eye on that because I've heard horror stories about when Dell credits back money. I'm keeping my fingers cross.
I told the supervisor that I will be giving the printer away. I'll bite the loss and remember never to buy a Dell peripheral again. So if what you say is true than it won't be much of a loss. See I haven't used my 962 printer at all yet, so I don't know how it prints or scans or whatever. I'll stick to HP and even Canon because I've never had problems with them and they printed pretty well.
The supervisor also had a problem specialist(?) call my house and I explained to her the problem. The end result is that she thinks there's something wrong with the adapter and is sending me out another, even though I had said it doesn't matter to me anymore. I'm done with this adapter thing and will wait until this technology is perfected, before I think of buying a another one, unless someone out there can point me to a really good wireless printer adapter.

Kmite:
I have since discovered that even when scanning with the AIO directly connected to my PC, I get an image with a gray "haze" around my text (regardless of what resolution setting I use). Basically, I agree....if you have to have both pieces connected to the PC, it's not wireless.
In my case, I've discovered that faxing works okay, wireless printing works (but, as expected, the "ink jet" quality of the printing is pretty lame, and the scanning feature is nearly worthless (lousy when connected with a wire, and bloated unmanageable file size with a worse image when scanning wirelessly). I've hardly used the copying feature, but I expected that. The scanning feature was the most important to me and turned out to be the most disappointing.
If Dell would like to honestly update their promotional claims about the interaction between the wireless adapter and the AIO, they need to make clear that wireless printing works just fine....but that the sanning feature is lousy to begin with but is SEVERELY compromised by trying to use it wirelessly. I certainly feel taken, but worse yet, feel that the lack of effective response from the company is insulting.
