A962 Visual C++ Error Message

I recently purchased a used A962, downloaded the drivers from the Dell Site and installed them on my home PCs.

The Vista Driver wors great with my laptop - the XP Driver fails to install, and gives me the following error message:
"Microsoft Visual C++Routine Library Routine Error
Program:c\program files/dellphotoAIOPrinter962/dlbxmon.exe
This application has requested the routine to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the applications software team for more information."

I followed the steps I found on an earlier post and upgraded the firmware to the latest version available on the Dell Site, but still receive the error.  I also checked to verify that I had the proper registry entry.

Since the printer works great under Vista, I have to assume that there is something interfering with the install on my desktop, but all troubleshooting that I've done has been for nauight.

Any suggestions?

uninstall printer,

to do that ,... download the dell patch or upgrade frm support.dell.com - browse to 962 , select "Vista" - dell patch / upgrade ( actually an uninstaller) - download and run it.

before restarting the PC .. rename the foll folders

c:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 rename the w32x86 to anything........
c:\windows\system32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86 rename it as the same on or a different name also works...

restart PC .

check control panel - printers....delete if any name for 962 is already present.

delete /rename the folder c:\program files\dell photo AIO printer 962 - delete/rename it if is already there.

clik on start
run
msconfig

make sure - startup type = Normal.

restart PC if reqd.

refer this Microsoft article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/178385

download the runtifix.exe file frm there and install it on your PC.restart PC again.

install the drivers...

let us know if it worked...

This solution worked like a champ!   Only difficulty was that I had to re-install the driver manually, but once it was installed everything worked perfectly.

Thanks!
