AIO 922 - not installing correctly
Initially all was well until a hd crash last fall & the installation of a new hd. Installed the AIO from the installation cd when I got it home & it's never worked as from factory since then & I can't continue on with the limited capabilities. I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it several times, apparently unsuccessfully. I'm missing some components, those that I know for sure are 'Dell All-In-One Center' and the 'View Dell User's Guide'. The guide isn't an issue but the Center sure is as I can't scan properly, etc., etc. I attempted to have the Dell site scan my computer on the support site to check configuration etc. and Internet Explorer won't let it & no I don't have a clue how to fix that. So my question is, how on earth do I get this back operational. I have no other printer software installed. Here is what shows - Start >All Programs>Dell Printers>Dell Photo AIO Printer 922>Dell Solution Center....and that's it.

33020,
We have a couple of issues here and everything should work. Since you did a clean installation, you need to install these drivers in this order, restart your computer. The follow the instructions, below, for installing the printer and let me know what happens.
The Desktop/Notebook Utility needs to be installed first, then the chipset drivers. If they are NOT installed first, then the rest of the drivers will fail to install.
How to Install Drivers in Microsoft® Windows® on Dell Systems
Since the operating system was re-installed did you remember to go to drivers and downloads, enter your service tag(DO NOT POST SERVICE TAG here or your post will get deleted, since it contains your personal information), and install these drivers in this order.
:emotion-55: Hint :emotion-55: When downloading the drivers, make a folder for each drivers and name it with the device it belongs with to make it easier to install them in the proper order.
Desktop System Software or Notebook System Software
Chipset or SMBus driver
Processor Driver (if applicable)
Video
Audio (sound)
Input Drivers (keyboard/mouse)
Modem
Network Card
QuickSet(Laptop only)
Please follow the instructions below and the printer should install for you. Please make sure you have all Windows Updates, especially .net framework, needed to run many applications and the latest Java.
Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch (a MUST with Vista machines) to completely remove the printer from your computer. Run the patch until it prompts you to restart your computer.
Restart your computer.
Download the proper drivers
XP Drivers
Vista 32-bit Drivers
Vista 64-bit Drivers
All other drivers
Install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect your printer.
Scanning
Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.
Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.
Let me know what happens.

Rick,
Thank you so much for your response. I'm just not getting anywhere here & have been working on this since you responded. I've been all over the drivers and downloads pages and I'm sorry but I can't find or don't know how to find these drivers to d/l. I enter my service tag and it just keeps giving me one d/l option.
I click the appropriate category to where these drivers are supposed to be and it tells me there aren't any available and right now - hope this is coming across clear enough to understand what I'm attempting to say :S...bottom line I can't get or find the magic download button for 'Desktop System Software or Notebook System Software' to even get started on the rest, which I can't seem to get to either.
Can you tell from this what I'm doing wrong? I put 'Desktop System Software or Notebook System Software' even in the search bar & it opens another little window which tells me where to locate this driver (in the utilities category), so I hit that and that's where I'm stumped as it tells me there are none available.
Thanks,
Carla
