AIO 946 Scanning Problem

Is anyone else having a problem scanning with the AIO 946?
I just got a new DimensionE520 with VISTA amd the new printer.  It prints and copies, but won't scan.

Very glad it works for you.  The only thing left that does not work for me is I cannot get the AIO software on my computer to allow me to fax.  I can fax from the 946 menu screen, but not from the computer screen.  When I click on "fax" it does a scan and shoots out a copy.

I have yet to try (printer located at my parents house) but I'm sure I'll have the same problem.  I will let you know if I find anything that might help.

I could not find the file when I tried your suggestion listed below:
Click on the tab that says "Data Execution Prevention."

6. Check the box that says "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select: "

7. Click on ADD

8. Browse to c:\program files\dell AIO printer 966\

*****(Use your printer number in this step)*****

9. Select the aioc.exe and choose add.

When reached step 8, I couldn't find the file aioc.exe to add on, there was a list of fiuls, but not the one you suggested.
any ideas?
Adel

Adeldarwish-

The resolution you attempted to use (posted by DELL-Gina) does not work, at least it didn't for me and a few other people.  I recommend following the instructions of hosea49 posted above.  :)

Alderwash- What Gina posted is almost correct. When using the Data exceptions, I used these programs and everything started to work correctly. All the shortcuts also appeared in the AIO 926 folder in the start menu. It was like it finished the install.

DLCIaiox.exe
DLCImon.exe
Fxsetutl.exe

Hope this helps, but this is kinda maird that dell does not get this stuff sorted out. Joel

Hi, I too have a Dell AIO 946 running with Vista OS.  I was able to scan for nearly a year, now suddenly I cannot.  The program I use, Paint Shop Pro, was what I used to obtain the scan.  Now it can't find a twain.  I've reinstalled the disk, none of the help so far on the board was good for me, I had none of those files in my Dell folder.
It prints, but it will NOT scan. :smileymad:

Since you didn't say what OS you're using, I guess you're using XP

Unplug your printer. Un-install your printer. Restart your computer. Install the drivers from here

Dell All-in-One Printer 946, Driver(It will prompt you when to connect your printer)

Just follow gthese instructions. Install the drivers, utilities, firmware and any patches. Doing it this way seems to work best.

How are you connected to the printer? wired of wireless?

If wired, disconnect your printer. Go to start/programs/Dell printers and un-install your printer.

Restart your computer.

Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer. Download drivers, Utilities, firmware and Patches.

Install your printer. You'll be prompted when to connect it.

If wireless, fix your network first.

Update the firmware in your wireless router. Manufacturer's website, make & Model needed.

Broadcast SSID(You may want to change this to make it easier to connect)

Use WPA security

Mixed b and g mode(n if available)

Use channels 1, 6 or 11. Most devices work better on these channels.

After router is done, now setup your wireless print server/printer.

If wireless printer server is used, Plug USB cable into computer and print server. Insert the print server disk. Choose Network, then choose print server and follow the instructions.

Now setup the printer.

Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer. Download drivers, Utilities, firmware and Patches.

Install your printer. Choose Network. Install the drivers.

Everything should now work.
