Thanks very much for your rapid reply. I followed your procedure and I am happy to say that everything works fine now. I have to add that only an old f--t would forget to check that there was an installation CD for the printer inside the Printer Owner's Manual!..........Thanks again...........R

i dont know what you mean by using cd to uninstall. there is no uninstall program on the cd. i tried doing everything else u suggested but still nothing. thanks for the help!

The CD that came with my A940 is blue and has "Dell AIO Centre, Dell Printer Solution Centre, Dell Photo Editor, Fax Software, and User's Guide" on it. I can confirm that when the CD autoruns it gives you the choice of Installing or Uninstalling. ......R
