Experienced this problem before and I went almost nuts just to find out that it can be solved by disconnecting the cables then reconnect them again.
Also did some research and I thought that it's good to share some info with you:
If the printer refuses to print, check the Print queue dialog for error messages.
Submit a print job, then right-click the printer icon in Devices and Printers and choose "See what's printing."
Error messages listed under the Status column indicate a problem connecting to the printer, and more information may be provided by the printer's own utility.
Reinstalling the printer replaces any key files that may have been corrupted or changed, and resets the connection to the printer Right-click on the device icon in Devices and Printers, and then choose "Remove device."
After the uninstallation process is complete, reinstall the printer.
