I have gone to add/remove and looked at the list generated. I do have WordPerfect Office 2002. I then went to Start, explore, program files and I have Outlook Express. I believe the Outlook and Word are different programs than what you were asking about. The wordperfect office 2002 has Wordperfect 10 and Quatro pro as a spread sheet. I also have Microsoft office power point viewer 2003, Note pad and Word pad. Those are the only programs I can find that have anything to do with Outlook, word processing or spreadshhets other than the new download of openoffice. I don't know if any of those programs might be responsible for the glitch. I want to thank you for your interest and help and willstand by for any additional questions or thoughts you might have, Have a good day,
Download the proper drivers. If using Windows 7 32-bit, download the Vista 32-bit drivers or if using Windows 7 64-bit, download the Viosta 64-bit drivers. Install the drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)
I do have the word perfect disc but it is 150 miles away from here at home. The software is so old it can't open an excel file or word document at times. That is why I went with openoffice. It looks like a wonderful program and I would like to make that my word and spreadsheet program and not have word perfect on at all. My printer is also 150 miles away. Does the following make sense:
Uninstall wordperfect
Restart
There should be no printer jobs but I can look at queue to confirm.
Printer hasn't been hooked up for several months. I just installed the latest driver for my printer a few days ago from this dell site so I have the up to date driver.
Would the above steps work since I won't have access to my printer for another 6 weeks or is the printer being hooked up essential?
I'm hoping getting rid of word perfect is enough with the new updated driver. If having the printer handy to hookup is essential then I won't be able to continue with this until my return home in about 6 weeks. Thanks again Rick.
The printer will only print when you're connected to your home network. You usually have to connect the printer to your computer, a host computer or a wireless print server. Don't think you can use anything to remotely connect to your computer at home and then send the document home via an email program, open them then print that way.
If using Open Office, before you get to many documents, excel spread sheets, try changing these settings.
Open a document with Open Office, click on tools options, load/save, general. Change the backup time to 2 min, go down near the bottom and select on left,
text documents change the right to Microsoft Word 97 / 2000 / XP
spreadsheet change the right to Microsoft Excel 97 / 2000 / XP
presentation change the right to Microsoft PowerPoint 97 / 2000 / XP
That way when you make a document, spreadsheet, etc..., it can also be opened with Microsoft Office, if needed. I use Open Office at home and Microsoft Office at work and can email documents from home to work.
I would still use the procedure below but just don't pay attention to my spelling. :emotion-5:
Download the proper drivers. If using Windows 7 32-bit, download the Vista 32-bit drivers or if using Windows 7 64-bit, download the Viosta 64-bit drivers. Install the drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)
Just a quick update. I'm encouraged. I uninstalled my old wordpefect. Then I ran the dell cleanup utility. That completely eliminated my printer from my system. I now have a functioning openoffice without any error messages. I will now try to reinstall my A940 printer in the next day and will update you at that time. I'm working long days and having a hard time finding free time. Thanks,
I tried installing the A940 printer driver but it won't let me until the printer is connected. That won't happen until my return home in mid April. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to help me. For now, I'll use openoffice and will install the printer in April and will give you a quick response at that time as to how I made out. No need to get back to me. Take care,
It has been about 6 weeks since we last corresponded. I'm uncertain if you will be able to view this message with that much time elapsed. I'll keep it short until I'm certain you are able to communicate with me via this thread or if I need to open a new thread.
I am home now and connected my computer to my printer. Then I downloaded the 2 drivers which you recommended at the following link: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=PRN_ALL_A940&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
The download and install went fine. Unfortunately, I am now back to the original problem of being unable to format cells in open office spreadsheet (calc).
Microsoft/dell is aware of this problem http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918730 but their solutions are complex and make me nervous playing in system folders.I'm not sure if you have any further thoughts. I'll stand by. Thanks Rick,
The download and install went fine. Unfortunately, I am now back to the original problem of being unable to format cells in open office spreadsheet (calc).
To format a cell should not be a problem. The only issue you should have is to Save the spreadsheet as a .xls product, that way it can be opened using Microsoft Office.
Tools, options, load and save, general.
Spreadsheet as Microspft Excel 97/2000/XP
Text Document as a Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP
Presentation as a Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP
Wondering if your system might have a little corruption and need to be repaired. It's a simple process with Windows XP and takes about 35 minutes to repair, just longet to get the Windows updates, again.
Yes, I just printed off an email and the printer works fine. I can't get to save a document. I stall out long before that point. It is not a save problem. Here's what happens:
I open openoffice spreadsheet so that it is an untitled brand new document with no data.
I highlight a cell and right click. In the drop down menu is "format cells"
I click on format cells and immediately get error message : Cannot load library DLBAPRP.DLL Using defaults error 126 OK?
I hit OK and the message returns. I have to hit the OK button a total of 5 times before the format window opens up. Now the format window is open so that I have various tabs I can select to format my cell. I have noticed that this only occurs if the Font or Font Effects tabs is selected. The other situation is I highlight a cell, right click and get "Format cells" and the window opens fine. Then when I select either Font or Font Effects tab I get that error message and have to hit the OK button 4 times and then it allows me to format the cell. As long as that window remains open , it will allow me to format the cell. As soon as I say OK to the format, it formats the cell as intended. If I decide to reformat that cell, I will go through the same error message format routine.
For some reason , this DLL library is needed for Font and Font effect formatting. Why it sort of works after hitting OK 4 or 5 times doesn't make any sense to me. If I get the format window and get the error message when I hit the Font tab and then I hit the Font Effects tab, it totally crashes open office and it needs to go through a recovery process to get it open again.
Hope that gives you a better sense of what I'm seeing here. This problem is only relating to the "Font and Font Effects " tabs in the formatting window. That link I provided previous sort of shows that Dell/Microsoft are aware of some funky problem associated with Word so it looks like it also affects open office.
Without the printer software installed, I had no problems formatting or saving a document in any format I desired. Have a good night,
Cannot load library DLBAPRP.DLL Using defaults error 126
Is an Outlook error message. Since you're home, do you have the Microsoft Office disks? If so, you should uninstall Microsoft Office, then restart your computer. If you use Outlook, then insert the Microsoft Office disks and install Microsoft Office. It seems to be corrupt.
You could ask the questions at...
Dell Productivity Software Forum and someone there may be able to help you better. I have some knowledge but I have not installed/repaired Microsoft Office. I use Microsoft Office at work but I'm a limited user there. I use Open Office at home and email my files back and forth.
I just don't understand if you Open a new document with open office and right click to format cell, left click format cell you should not get the Outlook error you should be getting this...
You and I discussed the Outlook and Word months ago. All that stuff was removed from my system. There is no Word perfect, Office or Outlook on my computer. Anything I had has been uninstalled. The only thing I ever had was Word Perfect . Now , all I have is Open Office. Your image is exactly right. I do get that format window. As soon as I hit the "Font or Font Effects tab" I get that error message and must click on it numerous times to get past it. If I close that window on "Font or Font Effects " tab, the next time I right click to Format, I will immediately get the error message and must click numerous times to bring up the format window.
I still feel it is a printer software glitch. The reason is that when I wrote to OpenOffice forum about the problem, they told me that Openoffice looks at the printer configuration for Fonts. I won't pretend to understand any of this but that was the gist of their feedback. OpenOffice looks to get information from Printer files when it modifies Fonts.
I appreciate you taking time to listen and help me. I don't want to bog you down on this. Wherever Openoffice is looking for that DLL library file, it obviously isn't where it thinks it should be. I am fairly certain that it exists. Months ago, I searched for the file and it is on my computer. I'm pretty sure in a printer file. I'll just have to go through the annoying multiple error messages to use openoffice or buy another printer. This 940 has been excellent and I hate to consider trashing it. Take care Rick and I can't thank you enough for your help,
Try reading THIS ARTICLE. Go to the fix it for me and see if there is anything there.
Try hitting the Windows key and the r keys at the same time. Type
C:\Program Files
C:\Program Files (x86) (works only for 64-bit systems)
Look for any left folders of Microsoft Office, Outlook is either directory and delete them.
Try downloading the latest version of Open Office and install it on top of what you have. This will replace any errors in Open Office and should give you a clean start.
You had some great ideas and I thought I was going to have this solved. I searched my computer for all files and folders related to Wordperfect or Corel. There were a number of stragglers and I deleted all of them. Then I restarted my computer. Still getting error message. Then I did a registry cleanup using Eusing free registry cleaner. That found over 300 problems of which many were related to wordperfect or corel. It also checks on shared DLL's and there were a pile of them that were wrong including the DLBAPRP.DLL that comes up with my error message. I thought for sure it would be fixed now. But Alas, after I cleaned and fixed the registry, no such luck. Still got the error message.
So then I went into openoffice Calc and went to tools: options: openoffice calc: general and checked the box that says "use printer metrics for text formatting" . Now the way things work, when I open up open office and select spreadsheet I immediately get my error message. It won't allow me to open the spreadsheet until I hit OK four times on the error message. Then it opens and works fine after that. Including fonts and font effects.
One way or another, I am forced to hit OK at least 4 times when the error message appears and at least this way, when I open the program I get it out of the way initially and everything seems to work fine after that so that's the way it's going to be I guess. I will download a new copy of openoffice this weekend to see if that helps. If it does, I will let you know. If you don't hear from me again, you know it didn't help but at least I can use open office once I get past the initial error messages. Have a good weekend. Thanks Rick.

Ron,
Do you have Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Office installed on your computer?
Do you use Microsoft Word or Outlook?
Start, control panel, programs and features(add/remove programs, show updates) and look and see if any of these appear there.

Ron,
Do you have the Wodrperfect Office disk?
Thinking if you uninstall WordPerfect, then restart your computer.
Run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.
Disconnect the printer.
Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.
Restart your cfomputer. Make sure the printer is removed, Manual Printer Driver Removal
Download the proper drivers. If using Windows 7 32-bit, download the Vista 32-bit drivers or if using Windows 7 64-bit, download the Viosta 64-bit drivers. Install the drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)
Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...
Dell A940 All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)
Restart your computer after the printer is installed.
Now try installing Word Perfect, if you use it. I use Open Office, like Microsoft Office but FREE.
When you go to print from anything, click file, print and make sure the proper printer is selected.
