Cannot print to multiple trays in a Remote Desktop session in Windows Server 2008 R2
Server OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
Client OS: Windows XP SP3
printer type: Dell Laser Printer 1720DN
driver: Dell Laser Printer 1720dn XL (Server and client)
version: s08, A00
Question/problem:
The extra '550-sheet drawer' on a redirected Dell 1720DN -printer is not available (greyed out) on the terminal server. We have to manually add the tray in printer properties (after taking ownership of the the printer) and need to do this everytime a user logs in.
Easy Print is not an option, because it doesn't work with this type of printer.
Anybody familiar with this problem or know how to fix this?

I made a PowerShell script that re-creates the redirected printer with the appropriate permissions. It has a UI and tried to make management very simple.

Hopefully this helps someone,
