colored cartridge for 924 - error 1203

I just received a new regular colored cartridge for the Photo 924 and can't get rid of the error 1203 when following the manuals suggestions. HELP!
 
I tried cleaning the contacts with a lint free cloth, unplugging and reinserting the cartridge. So far nothing. I redid the above in this sentence now get Colored Print cartridge missing.

It was resolved witht Tech support and after cleaning both the contacts and print head with clean cloths it was determined the cartridge was BAD.

You could have a bad new ink cart. but try this;
turn off printer. Remove AC power cord and USB cable from back of printer for 1 minute. Replug and retry.

Also try your old color ink cart. If the bad messages go away then it is almost certainly a bad new ink cart. Dell will probably replace.
