Communication Problems

My 942 has two chronic problems;
1) It constantly shows the 'communication problem' window but then usually prints when you press 'retry'.
2) It takes probably a minute or more to spool even the simplest of documents.

I believe this is the worst printer I have evre owned, slow, unreliable and when it doe print the quality is terrible!!!!!!!!!!

Is any one else having the same problems?

   Yes same thing ( USB not recognized). Tried a couple of things like a USB power booster, no good. Dell had me restore the comp back to day it was bought. Not sure if it's the printer or comp. Go figure, no luck with Dell. I have a 8100 w/ 942 all in one printer. I am trying one more time with Dell suport. Hate to get another printer brand and have same problem.

I doubt if it is the printer itself. It sounds like you have computer software problems and/or printer driver software probs. I have a 922 which has worked fast and perfectly for over a year, printing over 25,000 documents. I also work at a University which uses Dell exclusivly. we have over 1000 units and have had very few problems. When we do have a problem, most of the time we find it was caused by someone or something corupting the software program in the computer.

I am having the same problems as you.  The printer has been exchanged, a different USB cable used, and the software uninstalled & reinstalled multiple times using different release versions of the CD (currently have revision A03 installed ) none of which helped.  I even tried using the printer on another computer and still get the same results (after printing a couple of times, printing stops and receive the message USB device not recognized.  All I get with Dell is the usual runaround.  Have you had any luck with your problem?

Well I got my problem fix. Try this, If you have any Webroot software such as spyware disable it before you print anything. It is a software problem don't let Dell get you deeper in trouble. Dell did not come up with this fix it was on the Forum.  Let me know It worked for me hope this helps ET

I have the same problem-- no communication with printer, all of a sudden. All connections have been checked, etc. This is my 3d Dell all in one in the space of 2 months; they have an unending string of bugs.
