I have changed Dell computers with the same AIO 942, when I open the scanner from the control panel all I get is a scanner and camera wizard. No way to update applications. Any advice?
The computer is a Dell Dimesions with Windows XP, not sure on 32 bit or 64.
The computer is not the one that was originally connected to the printer. When the current computer was connected, no new drivers were installed. It is probable that the drivers were not intsalled and now Dell does not have them available. I don't seem to have the disc that came with the printer.

Open the Dell All-In-One Center.
Click on scanning and copying, update the list of applications to send scans to.
Click on enhanced search. Add AcroRd32 then add pdf
Also add any other program that you want to send scans to.

s johnston,
Make and model of your computer and operating system is helpful. 32-bit or 64-bit?
How did you install the printer?
Do you have the printer disks?

Is there a source for these drivers?

Steve,
If it's an XP machine, most of them are 32-bit.
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.
Disconnect the printer.
Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.
Restart your computer.
Download the XP drivers. Install the XP drivers. You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)
Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...
Dell 942 Photo All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)
Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications.
Without the printer disk, you will not be able to scan and fax. You can try Simple OCR to scan.

Rick,
I went back to the link, it worked this time. All went as you prescribed. I can now scan and save as a PDF again.
You are a god.
Thank You

Rick,
I made sure there were no prints in the queue,
I disconected the printer, I went to the link for the patch and drivers and got a new window that said 'service unavailable HTTP error 503'
Where did I go wrong?
Thanks for your help,
Steve
