Dell 1815 Multi-Function

Am military and was recently posted to Norway.  I want a dual-voltage multi-function printer.  From the literature, the 1815 can go with 110 or 220.  I need to know if that is two different models (one for sale in US and one in Europe), or can the 1815 take either voltage?  Don't want to just buy a 220 V for over here and not be able to use it back in the states.  If US spec 1815 can't go dual voltage, does anyone know of a dual voltage laser multi-function?

Well I haven't come accross any dual voltage laser printer yet in over 15 years.

You have to understand there is a fuser unit inside the the printer that use high heat to melt the toner onto the paper. This unit heat up by either a light bulb within a tube or a heater within a film and in both case it use a lot of power (over 200W). For easier design it would be design for single voltage use.

If you ready want to use in 220V area , a higher rate voltage converter may be help. Make sure you got one well cover the maximum rating of the printer. Frequency 50Hz/60Hz is usually not matter much if the device is not that critical.

Mind you that today laser printer is so cheap that it would be pay off after two years of use.

Believe it or not , for some model, a toner cartridge may cost higher than the printer itself.
