Please follow the instructions below and the printer should install for you. Please make sure you have all Windows Updates, especially .net framework(needed to run many applications) and the latest Java.
Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch (a MUST with Vista machines, I would also run with XP) to completely remove the printer from your computer. Run the patch until it prompts you to restart your computer.
I have updated Java and confirmed I have the latest MS updates. I ran the patch as instructed, but it has been running continuously since yesterday afternoon with nothing but a box on my screen saying "Please Wait"
Since it has been at least 12 hours, I am not sure this is working properly. Any suggestions?
I've seen the patch take a little while but over 15 minutes, it should be done. Let's check to make sure the printer was removed.
Check the control panel, add/remove programs and make sure it's gone. Also check control panel, printers and make sure it's gone. Then try right click start, left click explore, program files and make sure the printer folder is removed. If you had to remove anything from the above, then restart your computer.
Now try installing the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect the printer(powered on)
I checked as you said and there was still a 922 installed. I uninstalled and a version went away (20 mb) and a later version (50mb) remained. I tried a couple of times to uninstall it without success. It still showed. I did download the new driver and install it and the printer started working, but each time I try to print it gives the following message:
dlbtjswx.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
When I click Send Error Report, the file prints.
I can live with this for now. Thanks for your help.
It's really strange that the patch didn't remove the printer. It may be times for drastic measures.
Make a system Restore point. Download and run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and click only on the printer. If you accidentally click on something else, no need to worry, that's why I requested the system restore point. This should remove anything that was left there.
I'm just beginning to have frustrating problems with my printer. I went to the Windows Installer Utility and found some other information.
Here's what happened. I tried to install my WD My Passport Elite and everything went fine until I put the laptop into hibernate. The next day on a wake up, the screen went blue and encountered "BAD_POOL_HEADER" error. I checked the harddrive at Best Buy and it has all the information transferred and work fine on their computers. I was advised that I needed to update my 2005 Inspiron 9300 with the updates required for the BIOS etc. I came home and tried installing the first on the list CHIPSET and my problems began. The printer began to give me problems. I found your post and first tried the patch and reinstall the Dell Photo AIO Printer 922. After the install, after a few minutes, I received a Spooler Subsystem APP shut down and got a blue screen with an error that one of the folks on you first post string had. Now it is a dlbtjswx.exe error and a Spooler Subsystem App error in succession.
Is this the origional hard drive? Without knowing the make and model of your computer and operating system, it can be a little difficult. Maybe you'd do better if you click on my username, click send message and give me the information there. We can continut the discussion there, since this looks like more than a Dell 922 Printer issue.
I know this material is two years old, but it worked. I tried to move a Dell 922 AIO printer from one Dell XP computer to another and ran into much grief trying to get the printer and new computer to recognize each other. The trick was to first use the above downloaded patch to clean out all old Dell drivers, etc. Rather than download a new driver from Dell, I used the original CD I still have. Everything worked fine, but you do need to have the USB disconnected until the install program prompts you to connect and power up. Thanks.

The drivers need installed first. Once they're installed, there should be a message, the printer is not connected. Then yo connect the printer(powered on) The drivers will finish installing and then everything should start working.
