Albert,

May I ask, are you German? I see you're in the Germany time zone but use English(US) correct?

Look like the operating system installed is German. I can work around this but checking with you first.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

 Rick, yes this is correct.

I'm German but am running the English (US) Version on this machine.

Might this be a source of error ?

Albert,

If you want the printer to install in German, then download the German Vista 64-bit driver for the Dell 968 Printer and install the printer in the Vista Compatibility mode

If you want the printer installed in English, then try the copy file/language solution located at Re: Dell AIO 924 driver solution for windows 7 Language solution It will be similar but for your printer.

Rick,

just to be sure before uninstalling and reinstalling the printer:

there might be a problem when installing the english printer driver, while using win7 with german language settings ?

If not, then we might skip this step since english printer software language is perfectly fine for me.

if this might be a source of error and if it can be solved by installing the same language printer driver as the language used in the

win7 settings, i am happy to do so.

thanks for clarification

albert

p.s.: there was no problem while installing the other languaged software (as mentioned in the link you provided)

Albert,

Did you install the German drivers or try the language solution using the English (US) drivers?

The person stated...

Just scan all the directories in the \driver\win_XP2K directory of the installed driver after unzipping RXXXXXX.  For any english directory you find, create a copy with the english name of your system langage (for you, German).  I had to create only 2.  one in 'common' and one in 'X64'.

Try the whole process again .. for me, it works !!!! everything's installed in english, but it's working...

Rick,

I checked the installed driver - it was already including folders for "Enghlish" and also for "GERMAN".

Nevertheless,I unistalled all dell drivers, changed my system language from English (!) to German

and installed the German - drivers in the suggeted way.

Until now it works , will come back tomorrow to give an update !

Best

Albert,

If you want to use English, that's ok. What didn't you just create a German folder, copy everything in the English folder, then paste them to the German folder? That's what other people have done and go it working in English. If you leave both folders there, then if I'm correct, if you use English or German, the printer should hopefully work.

Hey Rick,

as mentioned: this is, what I've tested.

The driver folders I downloaded already contained both folders :(

Albert,

Sorry for the delay, work.

Run Delete Print Jobs on each system before trying. Wondering if a stuck print job in the queue is stopping the printer from printing. When you print from a program, click file, print and make sure the proper printer is selected.

The German drivers worked, correct? This will work for the German Operating system.

If you switch to English, does the English and German folders contain the same drivers? If not, then try copying them from  the folder that works.

Are you getting a printer communications error message or some other message?

Rick,

sorry for the long delay - was not able to access this forum.

Anyways, always tried your recommended actions (delete print jobs etc.)

Both folder are existing in the driver folder - both contain the same files.

There are no error messages at all - theoretically the printer is supposed to work.

Nevertheless, it stops printing after a few lines -running out of ideas ;(

Rick,

we've already tried these tweaks.

Considered boxes in the USB root hubs are still unchecked !
