I have a dell 2400 with windows XP

Do a fresh reboot and after logging in go directly to Services and try to start the spooler again.

Yeah, thats actually the first thing I did was enable all services and do a restart but same thing.
This has happened many times before and I've managed to fix it but I'm drawing a blank this time.

Do you have a firewall that might be blocking the spooler SubSystem (spoolsv.exe) from accessing the internet? I have that allowed in ZA for trusted in Access and Server. I also have Lexpps to ask in Access and blocked in Server.

For services, I have this info from a Dell tech re the printer: Printer Spooler - auto, RPC Locator - manual, and Lexpce server - auto.
