dell A920 all-in-one printer driver issue

Question

Please help!  I think I've tried everything. When  I try to print I get a message to install the drivers for the printer but when I try to do this it says my print spooler service needs to be started but when I attempt this it won't start.  Looking at properties in device manager it says 'this device is working properly'

Do a fresh reboot and after logging in go directly to Services and try to start the spooler again.

Yeah, thats actually the first thing I did was enable all services and do a restart but same thing. This has happened many times before and I've managed to fix it but I'm drawing a blank this time.

Do you have a firewall that might be blocking the spooler SubSystem (spoolsv.exe) from accessing the internet? I have that allowed in ZA for trusted in Access and Server. I also have Lexpps to ask in Access and blocked in Server.

For services, I have this info from a Dell tech re the printer: Printer Spooler - auto, RPC Locator - manual, and Lexpce server - auto.
