Dell A920 - something is clogged somewhere

Question

I have a Dell A920 that I use rarely.  The other day I went to print a letter but the page came out pretty blank with just some very light gray lines.  It would print in blue though, so I surmised the problem was the black cartridge which showed to be 1/2 full.  I had a replacement black cartridge I bought several months ago and installed it, but had the same problem.  I ran the nozzle cleaning utility at least 30 times but it never seems to get any better.  I get some light gray areas near the margins of where the black line should print and nothing in the center.  I don't know whether I've got a print nozzle clog that is so bad that the utility can't resolve it or if the problem lies with the cartridges.  The new black one I installed had been sitting in my closet for about six months.  I live in California and I'm sure it's experienced some 90+ degree days while it was sitting in the closet.  I'm not sure what to do.  Is there a nozzle cleaning kit available for this printer?  It's difficult to see what things look like inside because the lid only raises high enough to get two fingers inside to unlock and remove the cartridge.  Or if it's a problem with the cartridge, is there a way to 'prime' it to remove a clog.  I hate to buy another one if the problem lies with the printer, but I don't know how to tell.  I've thought about just getting a color laser printer since the prices have gone down so much and I really don't need an all-in-one like the A920, but don't want to spend the $$$ for something I use so little of at home.  It's one of those things that when I need it, I need it, but when I don't, I don't.  Any words of wisdom will be appreciated.

This isn't a solution,just a comment.

I am having the SAME exact problem,but,it had nothing to do with heat here in Buffalo,NY.

My printer goes through the motions of printing,but,nothing comes out on the page.

My ink cartridge is brand new.

Then I tried anothe one,used but,I filled it myself,thinking it was maybe the cartridge.

But,it's not,because,in was coming out very well out of cartridge,but,no words on paper.

I could use the help as well.

Please someone,
