Acwgraphics,

I split this thread off the owners thread.

Operating system(s) in English?

Make and model(s) of computer(s) and operating systems? 32-bit or 64-bit?

Any operating systems recently installed?

Virus programs and firewalls.

Both computers run Windows 7 64bit version.

Both are custom computers with a Gigabyte Motherboard X58 Chipset.

Im running Avast Virius protection.

Only firewall is the Windows 7 firewall that comes with the operating system.

I recently reinstalled the operating system on the computer the printer is connected to. I have installed all the microsoft updates. This problem persisted before the new installation.

Thank you Rick, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Dell is very lucky to have someone with your talent to help, I have been though many of your posts and you truly are a rock star.

Acwgraphics,

The computer you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the chipset drivers first?

Does the computer have

(AMD USB Audio Driver Filter) and uninstall NVIDIA's Network Access Manager

Yes, I installed chipset drivers first, restarted installed SATA driver, restarted, rinse and repeat.

I did not install NVIDIA'S Network Access Manager.

I have attached a screen shot of all the programs installed on the computer.

Acwgraphics,

Printer looks like it installed, but not sure if it's working.

Try this procedure...

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed.
Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).

Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...

Dell A940 All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7)

Avast will not be a problem.

I have tried this procedure many times.

I did notice when installing the printer driver from the installer, it would ask me to connect the printer, the instant I did this Windows 7 would automaticly install drivers on its own. I then would have a choice to update the driver though the installer (recommended) or install a new set. I have tried both with same results.

I do not see any setup.exe file in "C:\Program Files\Dell Printer A940"

I do not see any setup.exe file in "C:\Program Files(X86)\Dell Printer A940"

I have tried everything in the three links with no sucess

The print file is spooled and it stayes there.

Just to clarify, everything is working correctly on the computer the pinter is connected to.

The problem is on the 2nd computer were the print file stays in the print spooler.

Acwgraphics,

Delete Print Jobs will remove the stuck print job(s) from the queue and reset the print spooler, but a restart is needed.

Look in...

C:\dell\drivers\R153050

Double click on setup.exe

That is the driver installation installer.

I extacted installer R153020 folder to desktop then deleted after install.

Are you suggesting to run installer in current state without running the cleaner utility?

I have ran many clean installations of the driver.

Thank you

I have tried many clean installs with the cleaner utility.

Acwgraphics,

Let me say, the patch, R166315.exe is really a printer cleanup utility for the Dell A940 printer. I recommend running Delete Print Jobs restart the computer, then make sure the printer is not usb cable connected to the computer. Then run the patch(R166315), Printer Cleanup Utility until it prompts you to restart the computer.

Restart the computer. make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Doing the procedure above, gives you a clean start with installing the printer.

If the printer does not install, .net framework is needed, I also recommend Java.

Vista drivers in the Compatibility mode works most of the time on the Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 systems.

Printer sharing, you need to make sure the printer is installed and working on the host computer and then setup for printer sharing.

Virus programs and firewalls like to block communications. I have a list of virus program and firewalls that cause these issues and how to get to the firewall settings. Even if the firewall is turned off, some virus programs and firewalls will still block communications and sometimes uninstalling them gets things working.

I give up.

Nothing is working to fix the issue, I have done everything you have posted.

Thank you anyway Rick.
