Dell AIO 924 - No Communication
For some reason, my Dell Dimension 3100 has stopped recognizing the 924 printer. I have tried unplugging, reconnecting through other USB ports, re-booting, etc etc. Finally I simply uninstalled the printer, and tried to do a reinstall. Unfortunately, I keep getting stuck at "Please connect your printer to the USB cable" - even when I do connect, the system doesn't seem to recognize it (even Windows doesn't give me the New Hardware Found message)
I have even changed the USB cables, but still no luck.
This has happened a few times before - it seems that eventually the system will recognize the printer being attached - however this can take days and even weeks of constant unplugging, fiddling and re-booting, and is annoying like crazy.
I should also point out that this only happens with the printer - everything else that gets plugged into the USB ports reads fine.
Running a Dimension 3100/E310 with windows XP
Any haelp would be gratefully appreciated.

Disconnect your printer. Un-install your printer.
Go to Device manager.(right click my computer, left click properties, click on hardware, click on device manager)
Go down to the USB Controllers
click on the + sign
starting at the bottom at the USB Root Hubs and working your way to the top, Universal Host Controllers, un-install everything, then restart your computer. Windows will find them all again and fix the problem you are having with the USB ports. Please be patient.
Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer. Download drivers.
Install your printer drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect it.
Scanning
Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.
Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

Well, I wish I could tell you that it worked - unfortunately, now the printer wiill not stay online.
The power light flashes, but it won't stay connected.
Took all the cables apart, cleaned all the contacts, replaced the USB, nothing seems to work.
Any thoughts, anyone?
