Dell AIO 968 not working with Windows 7 Ultimate
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and since then my Dell AIO 968 will not print. I have uninstalled/reinstalled the printer, downloaded the latest drivers from Dell and still no luck. Windows sees the printer, it is listed in printers and devices, tells me it is working properly but no printing. Can anyone help me to resolve this problem?
Thank You

Did you use the Windows 7 drivers?

When I uninstalled the printer and then re-installed it, Windows automatically searched through Windows Update and applied those drivers. Are those the correct ones? And if not where can I find the most up to date drivers.
thank you for your quick response.
P.S. This problem is driving me a little crazy. :-)

I installed the 32 bit version. I seemed to have solved this problem with your help on this post and other postings of a similar nature. I uninstalled/reinstalled the printer. Uninstalled drivers, all in one center, everything associated with this printer. At that point I connected the printer via usb, the computer immediately began to download the drivers from windows update and I stopped that process. I went to the Dell 968 AIO driver download page and found the latest driver for Windows 7 and downloaded and installed them. Voila as they say. The printer is communicating and printing once again.
Once again Thank You for your help and quick responses.
P.S. What are you doing up so early. LOL. :-)
Thanks Rick.
Sincerely

jalfieri,
Usually after you remove the printer and restart the computer, you download and install the drivers before connecting the printer, but if it worked, that's what counts.
Had to wake daughter for school.
Back to bed. GREAT JOB! :emotion-21: Thanks for posting back,
Rick

Please I have been on the telephone & with Dell Chat since 7AM est it's now 10:37 Pm est, just hung up on them, they said to purchase warranty since mine ended on April 2011, DELL 968 AIO, they gave me a 800 number, the 800 number support said what are you talking about as I was still on LIve Chat with Dell, so after I explained on chat the hundred time, that was not the issue, Download updated driver, then, Windows Update also had an update for Dell 968 Printer update, but failed, when I did the fix, it shows fixed, but then showed error again, it was getting stupid when I had to take my cursor back and show the tech in SERVICES that there is no Printer Spooler and click Spooler for hin, duh!! Now they want me to go back to Factory Settings, no I do not think so, since my laptop is just one yr. I had a DELL TECH come 3 times straight. Laptop overheating, their solution. 1. Replace Power adapter. 2. Send a Dell Tech, to replace motherboard & fan. 3. Dell Tech comes back, camera does not work, all files & programs gone, removed my hardive duh, forgot to ask you if you needed anything. 4. Dell Tech Back to replace motherboard, camera, fan & my laptop has not worked since. I am so mad at DELL they are really stupid. My Dell Printer 968 AIO will work on all my laptops & desktps, but not on my new laptop since the Dell Tech has touched it. What idiots.

PAS35,
What do you mean by...
The hard drive that was installed, did it automatically install Windows? If not, was Windows 7 32-bit Manually installed?
Can you try and run the full diagnostics and report back any error messages, before we proceed.

I recently purchased a new Dell XPS desktop and Windows 7 Ultimate installed automatically. I have a Dell 968 printer (not the wireless model) and it will not connect. Printer status displays ready, however, when I try to print it will not. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and drivers from Dell's web site. I have checked updates, which would not install and I think finally it did. I have rebooted and followed the steps appropriately (where I uninstall and disconnect the printer while reinstalling, then reboot and connect). Every time I go through the steps the last one displays FAILED. I used the 62bit software.
Help! I am about ready to purchase a new printer, because I have been working on this for 3 days and my IT friend tried when he installed my computer for me. So frustrating.
Thanks
Nichole
