Whenever i try to print a image it says can not communicate with Printer. I checked the available drivers and downloaded the one available with Vista but i still recieve the error message. Can anyone help me?

Also while i'm here i have Roxio DLA installed and Windows is reporting Sonic DLA has a Driver not supported. I tried unistalling all of the Roxio's it prepares then for uninstallation but hen just stops and does not uninstall.

I just received a brand new $2,000 Dell and tried like so many others to hook up my A940 printer.  It's the only thing that's gone wrong thus far with Vista.  I spent about 4 or 5 hours on it today, following all the advice here; to no avail.  Eric Rendel's and Gina's directions seemed very helpful and everything, but ultimately this is simply shameful.  Dell did shoddy programming and are quit obviously treating their customers very poorly by not fixing this problem.  I guess I'll be buying a new printer--definitely NOT a Dell.

Thanks Gina.  I finally got the printer to work with Vista.  I used the original CD to uninstall, ran some patch to cleanup some leftover files, followed your instuctions on removing A940 printers,  and installed the Vista driver!

I am having a similar problem with the A940 All-in-one-center on my new Vista PC.  I originally incorrectly installed from the printer CD from my old Dell XP platform.  Per instructions via several related threads on this forum, I have downloaded the patch and ran the clean-up.  I downloaded drivers and installed.  I downloaded the  "App" and executed --it unzipped but no installer started.  I located the windows installer (fxredist) in the unzip directory and ran it -- not sure that anything was successful.  I downloaded the firmware upgrade, but receive an error in trying to run A940V284 -- did not find a driver.  The A940 printer works fine.  The All-In-One-Center appears in my start list, but when I try to launch, I receive the "AIOC.exe has stopped" error.  Any help / insight would be most appreciated.  Thanks

DaveR55,

I would suggest starting a new thread instead of posting with other model numbers of printers. Please post in the Dell Printers Forum, Please include the make and model of your computer(s) and Operating System(s) and the make and model of your printer and how you're connecting it to your computer.

Each printer has different firmware. Installing the wrong firmware can cause the printer to become a huge paperweight.

Thanks,

Rick
