Dell Configuration Web tool issue...
I know the default password for the Web tool, but after changing it to what I wanted it to be, it does not authenticate now. (I'm not a noob, so know precisely what i set it to.) Question is, how can I reset the password of the printer now? Must it be reset through the Web tool only, or is there a way to reset it through the printer menu. I don't see the option if so, and find no mention of a method in the documentation. Resetting to Printer defaults does not work either.
Thanks for any help.

Too funny! I would normally agree with that, but in this forgot I decided not to reply to an existing thread, which is another common "noob" mistake, while putting out 3 other fires at the same time. Glad you responded though, cause it was a previous reply to another by you that stated there was a way to do this without going through the Web Configuration tool. The printer is a 3110cn, using an IP on the network via DHCP. How can I reset/erase the password back to its default? Thanks.

Unfortunately didn't do it for me. I made sure to wait until I saw the "Wired Network" and "Reset LAN" being displayed before powering off. Waited for 30 seconds before powering back up. Still get "Access Denied" and "Invalid User" errors. Would it help to remove the net cable to reaquire an IP, or anything else I can try?

Uh oh. Then I'm in a real pickle cause I already tried that too, hoping it might help, but no go. I'll give it another try to be extra sure, but hoping you've got another trick up the proverbial sleeve. Thanks.

No problemo..... glad you have a good sense of humor.
To reset the 3110cn EWS password, the LAN settings must be reset.
1. Press the Menu button.
2. Press the down button until Admin Menu appears, then press the enter button.
3. Press the down button until Wired Network is displayed, then press the enter button.
4. Press the down button until Reset LAN appears, then press the enter button.
5. When the "Are you sure?" message appears on the operator panel, press the enter button.
The display momentarily indicates Initializing..., followed by Initialized, followed by Restart Printer to apply setting. The display returns to Wired Network and Reset LAN.
6. Turn the printer off, wait a few moments, and then turn the printer on.

You ARE talking about the EWS password, not the panel lock password, right?
The factory default for the EWS U/N and P/W is:
admin
(blank or null)
If you print the Printer Settings page, does it show a valid IP for your network?

Yes, the EWS password. I'm specifically wanting to remove the check mark for Print Volume->Dell Color Track->Print User Limitation check box. When I clear it and click "Apply New Settings" or Restart printer and apply new settings" buttons, I'm prompted for username & password.
I'm getting a valid IP address. Wait...might have something here...
Ok, I just went through the earlier procedure for the 7th time, and finally, that time it took. (In the Configuration Web tool that is.) However, the printer is still displaying Access Denied, Invalid User when printing to it though. So... I went and shut it off again and back on, and it is now allowing print jobs without interruption. Yeah! Appreciate your help, ideas, and patience as I worked through this issue.
