Mel,

Thank you for visiting the Dell Community Forum.

What was the file name for the firmware that you were trying to install? With more information I can try checking on the file to see what I can figure out.

Hi Mel,

Is your printer connected via USB or through the network?

If it is connected to your network you can do the following on the printer:

1. Press Menu 7 times (until it reads 7. Network Setup).
2. Press the right arrove until you get Print Sys. Data.
3. Press Select.
4. Press Select.

On the page that prints out will be your IP Address.

The IP Address that is printed out is what is supposed to go into the address bar of your web browser.

If your printer is connected via USB, then there are other instructions for updating the firmware of your printer. When you extract the firmware it should popup with a document and instructions. Make sure your reference the appropriate section of the instructions for your configuration.
