Try this first to make sure you have the printer installed correctly.
Disconnect your printer. Make a System Restore point. Now download and run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to completel remove the printer from your computer. Restart your computer.
Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer. Download drivers and firmware.
Install your printer drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect it.
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am able to download the driver and firmware from the Dell site but my computer will not aknowledge that the printer is installed. I am at a roadblock and am not sure what to do next.:smileymad:
go to device manager(left click start, right click my computer, left click properties, left click hardware, left click device manager.)
Under USB Controllers, starting at the bottom, USB Root Hubs, and ending at the top, USB Universal Host Controllers, un-install everything in that section. Restart your computer. When you start back up, Windows will find everything again, correcting the problem with the USB Port. Please be patient.
Now try and install the latest drivers, you'll be prompted when to connect your printer.

Did you try using the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility to completely remove the printer from your computer, then restart your computer?
Then try a clean install. If it doesn't trake, then run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility again,
go to device manager(left click start, right click my computer, left click properties, left click hardware, left click device manager.)
