All I can suggest is posting a "want" on eBay.

There's licensed application S/W on the CD (an OCR reader) and that's why Dell can't post the whole image on the website.

You have the Printer, and it has the Service Tag#

Write it down, and go here

https://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_form

Fill out the request, using the friends name who bought the printer, and use your address for the delivery.

Dell must give you a Replacement CD per system owned!

Actually, they don't really have to. One of their senior cust service managers told me that Dell is obligated to provide one CD to the original owner, and that's all. They get extras stamped to replace damaged or defective CD's. However, once they're out...... they're out..... and this is an OLD printer. They can't put the ISO image on-line because they'd be breaking licensing agreements with the company that furnishes the OCR software for the scanner.

Did you ever locate that installation disc? I am in exactly the same position having bought a used 1600N yesterday? If you did locate one, would you be willing to make a copy and sell it to me? Thanks.
