Do you have another computer to connect the cable coming from the printer to it and see if the other computer senses the printer. This is to just rule out a bad printer cable. No need to try anything, you just want to see if the cable is Ok. Other computer should give some sort of message or a dong sound, indicating something new is plugged in.
Go to device manager(right click my computer, left click properties, left click hardware, left click device manager)
Go to the USB Controller section and click the + sign.
Go to each USB Root Hub and right click on it, left click properties, left click power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
I tried your above recommendation but it did not work. When I try to print a document from my computer, I still receive a message that my printer cannot communicate with my computer.
Thank you for your reply, and your effort in trying to fix my problem.
If you have anymore ideas as to how to resolve my problem, please let me know. Thanks.

MGT-camonasp,
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.
What virus program and firewall are you using?
