FYI: When I download a driver, I'm at a loss as to how to get the "start up application" to launch. It's as if I download it to my Macbook, then nothing happens.... So I end up just deleting the driver. Not sure this matters, but I thought I would add that tidbit ...
Sorry I'm not a Mac person. I have seen other Mac users say they used Gutenprint with their Dell Printers. Your Dell Printer was made for Dell by Lexmark, so if you find a similar model, there may be Mac drivers for it that might or might not work.
If your question about Gutenprint is not answered in the FAQ or in the documentation included with the installer your next stop should be the Gutenprint project forums.
My friend had a Mac and he install Windows on one partition and has the Mac OX on the other partition. I think he told me that a program, maybe SUSE, I could only find openSUSE, automatically installed the drivers from the Windows partition to the Mac OX system.
