Dell rebranded Lexmark printers

Question

I have the A940 printer also, on a Windows XP operating system. In fact, I have 2 of them.... it seems everybody is giving them awaw free these days. I can't get them to work on any of my 4 computers, and Dell has done us all a great disservise by refusing to address this problem, imho. Obviously the solution is to throw these new, never been used printers straight into the trash, because they are never going to work. I hope Dell has learned something from this, and won't be so quick to rebrand somebody else's junk, like with the Lexmark deal. Or if they do, provide some support for them instead of leaving us all hanging. I'm still a Dell loyalist. I still consider Dell to be the best choice. But should I buy another Dell printer? 'Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice...' I don't want to be fooled again. Is Dell still rebranding junk printers, or is there a Dell printer line that I can rely on to actually work this time? What is the best recommendation to replace the A940 with? (Something smaller would be nice.) Does Dell make anything reliable, or should I buy my pinter from Hewlett-Packard instead?

Lexmark are at the usually at the bottom of quality and reliability surveys.  Why Dell chose Lexmark, I do not know.  I do have a Dell 962 printer that I've had no problems with, but I also have Epson and HP printers.  If replacing your 940, I'd definitely consider any of HP printers.  Or try Epson all in ones, some of them come with individual replaceable ink cartridges, which might lower overall printing costs.  Sorry about your troubles with the 940, I think rebranding is not always the answer.
