Dell V305w printer not scanning

I am trying to scan an image using my V305w printer but it's not working. After I select the computer to scan to, a 'downloading application list' message appears on the dsplay of the printer and the image isn't being scanned. How do I fix this problem?

Dear Rick,

Thank you for your response.

I have managed to get the scanning function on my printer again - I inserted the printer's CD and connected the printer to my laptop (Windows 7 x64 bit) via the USB cable I was provided with. As I scan documents very rarely, I am content with connecting the printer to my laptop each time when doing so.

However, I am now unable to print wirelessly. When I remove the USB cable, the printer does not repsond to printing. Do you have a solution for this?

Regards,

Vijay Ganger

ViJayGanger,

What is the make and model of your wireless router?

What type of security are you using?

What channel are you on?

Can you communicate when you restart your computer?

Vijay Ganger,

I think I can get your printer to work wirlessly, if you follow my instructions. We need to work on your wireless router, first.

Make and model of your wireless router and the type of security you're using and channel number.

How to login to your wireless router

Vijay Ganger,

Broadcast your SSID(I would change this to make connecting easier)

Use WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security (Personal)

Password 13 characters long

Use mixed mode

Use channels 1, 6 or 11. I use channel 11.

Save and exit. Power off your ISP Modem/router and your wireless router(if any). Wait 30 seconds. Then power on the ISP Modem/router first. Wait 15 seconds, then power on your wireless router.

Restart your computer. Now try to connect to your new network.

Now you have to install the printer like it's new. You might want to uninstall the printer, first, then restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Install the printer drivers, it should ask you to setup the printer. These instructions should walk you through the setup process.

How Do I Connect a Dell™ Wireless Printer to a Wireless Network

Choose your printer. Beneath your printer, select your operating system. You'll be redirected to another page. Then click on show all steps. It will walk you through the installation process.

With these settings in your wireless router, the printer should be able to communicate with no problems.

I have the same problem with my V305w printer. I also can't fax. A manual would help but I don't have one. I tried to find one online but I have been unable to do so.

Kaybag,

Scanning and faxing require having the OCR Program installed. This can be installed by...

As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.
