Dell V515w scanning issue - configuration issue?

I have a great Dell All-in-One printer, and it prints and copies pretty well.  But when I try and scan to the computer, or scan to an email document, things don't go so well.  The printer mechanically seems to scan just fine.  Then a small box pops up on the computer monitor showing the scanner progress, with the blue line marching across - I am thinking that things are working great.  But then nothing happens.  After around 10 or 15 seconds, an error box pops up titled "Dell Scan Software".  It has a big red X and says "Program Missing".  There is a small blue message below that says "Tell me more..."   When clicked, it says "The item that you have requested requires a program that has been moved or deleted."     Hmmmmm.....

I am running this on a relatively newer model Dell desktop computer with Windows 7 Home Premium, 64 bit, and am using the Dell_V515w_wcr_64_rn(1)..exe driver.  I have tried restarts, reinstalling the printer and software, disconnecting the USB cord when installing, etc. - all to no avail.  I saw a post on this forum with almost this same title, talking about going into Services.msc and making some changes, which I tried, but again, no success.  My guess is that this is some sort of configuration issue, but any guidance at all that folks might have to get the printer and the desktop software to communicate better would be appreciated.

I have the same problem even though my scanner has worked before. When doing it manually from the scanner I choose computer or network then my computer and a message appears: Downloading Application list. If I tried to do it from the computer its even worse : windows can not find C:\ program make sure you typed the name correctly, then try again. technical support does not answer and yesterday they answered an told me they were going to call me back and never called.
