Difficulty Resetting Web Interface Password for Dell 3100cn Color Laser Printer
I am having difficulty changing the web interface password for my Dell 3100cn. I remotely connect to a client's network and am unable to make any changes to the printer via the web interface. The default login information (user: admin | password: password) do not work, and have never worked. I have attempted init NVRAM and upgrading firmware and neither have enabled me to login; consequently I am unable to make any changes to printer settings.
The only method that has enabled me to make configuration changes is by having the client work with me over the phone, through the LCD Display Pannel - which is time consuming and difficult for the client.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Randal

Remember to get the client to turn the printer off and on again afterwards.
I'm a new user of this printer too and still learning, sorry if you have already taken these steps!

We went thru the same problem with a 5100 printer. After hours of trying different things, I FINALLY figured the default password shipped with our 5100 printer. With the 5100 printer, dell ships it with a default Admin password of 0000 (four zeros). Not sure if that info will help with your 3100, hope so, cause getting support from dell on these printers is difficult

The default web interface password is: password
The default control panel password is: 0000
The web interface password (along with the username), is always needed to login and access certain settings. The control panel password is only needed if the control panel security feature is set to ON, by default it is set to OFF.
ccie98: It seems that you're saying that your 5100 has the web interface password set to 0000 What a strange thing for Dell to do! If it should have been set to the same default as the 3100 you did well to discover it!
