Do i need a network??

Question

i just bought a 3300 wireless adapter for my 926 printer and was hoping to print from my new 1720 dell laptop.  i use a dial up connection.  when i try to configure the computer to the wireless adapter it keeps telling me that it can not find the network.  i thought the wireless adapter provided the network.  do i need to buy something else??   thanks,   Lola

I am having the same problem.  Tech support does say that I need a wireless router....but, like you, I would think that is the purpose of the WPA 3300?  The only difference in our systems is I use a AT&T Broadband Wireless 'Air-Card' for my internet connection.

It really doesn't make any sense i tried uninstalling the printer and reinstalling it trying to use the 'connect to other computers without a network' button and that still doesnt work.  frustrating.  Im not sure what else i would need to buy as i am not that good at this stuff.  No one else seems to know either or they are just not answering.  i havent tried calling dell yet.   thanks for posting.   Lola

I returned the WPA 3300 and my 924 printer in exchange for a 968w wireless printer. Supposedly you don't need the 3300 with a 'wireless' printer.   I will let you know if it works out for me. Regards, Ray
