E525w

I have an E525w printer and I need to set up the scanner to send it to email. When I tried to do it, I got an error code of 026-751. It basically says that you have to setup SMTP server by way of EWS. I have the IP address of the printer and navigated to the Print Server Setup page. Now here is where it gets over my head! It ask for the server address, the port and authentication credentials. It also talks about encryption ( I don't think I need to do that) and my email address ( I can handle that). Is there anybody out there, that help me by walking through step-by-step of how to do this? I would certainly appreciate thew help!

Hi

Well Dell say this........

Connect the Dell E525w printer to your network via WiFi or Ethernet and note its IP address by printing a System Settings report from the printer menu (Menu > System > Report/List > System Settings).

Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering this IP in a web browser.

For Gmail, enable 2-step verification on the account, generate an App Password under Security > App Passwords (select "Other" and name it for the printer), and use that password instead of your regular one.

Configure Email Server Settings

In the EWS, navigate to Print Server Settings > TCP/IP: uncheck "Get DNS Server Address from DHCP" and set Manual DNS to 8.8.8.8, then Apply New Settings.

Go to E-Mail Alert (or E-Mail Server): set Primary SMTP Gateway to smtp.gmail.com, SMTP Port to 465, E-mail Send Authentication to SMTP AUTH (Auto), SMTP Login to your full Gmail address, SMTP Password to the App Password (re-enter it), POP3 Server to pop.gmail.com, POP3 Port to 110, POP User to your Gmail, POP Password to App Password, and Reply Address to your Gmail; Apply New Settings.

Enable Security

Under Print Server Settings > Security > SSL/TLS: select SSL/TLS for SMTP - SSL/TLS Communication and Apply New Settings; the printer may restart.

Add Addresses and Test

In EWS, add recipient emails to the Address Book for quick selection. On the printer panel, load a document, select Scan > Scan to Email, choose an address from the book, and scan; the PDF emails directly.

I suggest you print out the above (double spaced), and ANNOTATE the bits where IP address is mentioned etc. etc.

Sure! Here's the quick version:

  1. Enter the printer’s IP in your browser to access the EWS.

  2. Go to Scan or Email settings, and find SMTP settings.

  3. Set SMTP server to smtp.gmail.com (or your email provider’s SMTP).

  4. Use Port 587 and choose TLS encryption.

  5. Enter your email address and password.

  6. Test to make sure it works!

That should set it up for scanning to email.

@Printer Tales Ok, I went to the Dell printer page, but I don’t see any option that gets me to the scan or email settings. Can you help me further? And will this take me directly to the SMTP settings? I appreciate what you’re doing and really need the help! My wife is trying to scan a lot of paperwork and this will make it so much easier!  Thanks!
