I GOT IT!!!

Evidently when I created the original Receive Connector I did not pay attention to how I wanted it to work (My Fault for lack of Attention to Detail).  However when I re-created the Receive Connector I paid more attention to what I was doing.  I also removed all the check marks from the Authentication Tab, and made sure that Anonymous users was the only group allowed permissions.  This yielded the scanner to make a connection to the SMTP server without any issues, while still leaving the *Invalid option enforced on the scanner for SMTP Authentication.

*Security Risk - Make this less of an internal security threat I made sure that the scanner was assigned a static ip of 192.168.0.43 in the DHCP Scope on the DHCP server.  I also only allowed the the IP of the scanner in the Network tab of the Receive Connector Settings, this way the scanner is the only device allowed to send Anonymously through the exchange server.

Woot!  Research and Du diligence for the win!

I’m an idiot I was replying to the emails that were being sent from this post.  Yes I do have the Dell 3115cn and was hoping you could help with this problem.  I really appreciate any help.

No problem.... LoL !!

I set you up on my friends list so we could converse via email. This error is specifically "Invalid Recipient Email Address", which means the email address your sending the email to is not valid or formatted incorrectly.

OK..... just picked something up out'ta this.....

You have 3115cn's at another location that do work, but this one does not?

1st question to ask..... what is different between the networks each of these machines are attached to?

How far is the "other" location? Is it possible (feasible) to move the machine that doesn't work to the other location where they do..... and try it?

Hello,

Thanks for your help Llynster.

My problem is still not resolved. The message indicate my recipient email adress is incorrect, but i really tried many different adresses.

I don't have smtp issue with the computers on my network (even if use the ip adress of the smtp server). I tried with the same parameters on another 3115cn (in another location) and it worked perfectly.

I still don't know how to resolve this and even don't understand why this error message.

If  anyone have an idea...I take it.

Thanks.

I've been trying to setup my Dell 3115cn to scan to email. However the only ports you are able to select are (25, 5000 - 65535) so either you can pick 25 which is blocked by my ISP and most ISP's or pick 5000-65535 which no ISP's use. The printer supports SMTP authentication however almost every ISP uses port 465 for this which you can't pick. Has anyone found a work around for this?

I have been poking around the solution center for a while and I see you have helped many people.  I was hoping you could give me some advice.  I am trying to get scan to email working for our remote office.  The issue:

They are not on our LAN or domain.  The printer is at their location.  Our MX records point to Trend's IMHS servers.  Trend then forwards emails to our exchange server.  I have Trend's IP address as the SMTP Gateway within the printer's Web Console.   Auth is not recquired and I still can't get anything to work.  I am starting to think the printer has to be local to the exchange server in order for this to function. Perhaps I can add the FQDN instead of the IP address for the SMTP gateway?

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Their user manual is not real helpful either.

I'm having issues with this printer as well.  I'm trying to setup Scan to email, my client has a new SBS 2008 server.  However when we try to Scan to email we get the 016-768 From Address error.  The copiers "Reply" address is in the correct format, IE copier@domain.com.  On their Previous 2003 SBS Server network their SMT Auth. was set to *Invalid and everthing was working fine, now that they have a new Exchange 2007 server, this does not appear to be working at all. I've been trying to resolve this issue for days now to no avail.  Any hep is much appreciated.

Thanks for sharing this. It's this sort of interaction among users that makes this forum a useful resource.

Can you please elaborate/explain what you mean by the term "Receive Connector"?
